Albuquerque: 5.9° F Denver: 4.9° F 2. For being a sectored city, Brasília suffers from Urban Heat Islands. The commercial sector, which receives thousands of cars and people during week-days, registers higher temperature than the residential sector, for instance. This year, at college, me and my colleague simulated on ENVI-MET how many degrees would that be, and we found that the difference between those sectors can reach up to 4º C. ![commercial and residential sectors][1] 3. I would propose to start occupating differently those sectors, adding many types of uses, such as more commerce in residential areas, for example. That would help to dissolve the great flux of people and cars through diferente áreas of the city. This proposal would help to solve the traffic issue in Brasilia as well, since most people nowadays have to do almost the same route everyday. 4. In Brasília the effects of UHI have not resulted in any plans to reduce it yet. I believe that it happens mostly because government planners believe that they can’t alter the way the city functions because it’s a World Heritage Site.![][1] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14585608799695872.jpg
