- Infrastructure - Job opportunities - Safety - Political stability - Education ---------- 2.Why do we live where we live? I serve the government and get to move to places not on my volition. However, would like to answer based on the criteria I follow while deciding where in the town I live after moving there: - Open Spaces-greenery - Work place nearby, preferably walking distance - Basic requirements-food, water, electricity, internet availability - Connectivity-especially road - Approachable to like minded colleagues ---------- 3.To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? Giving equal weightage to all, i.e. 20 points each, evaluation is as under: - Infrastructure: 15 - Job opportunities: 10 - Safety: 18 - Political stability: 18 - Education: 15 - Total score: 76 **Total liveability score of the city**: - Infrastructure: 8 - Job opportunities: 5 - Safety: 10 - Political stability: 15 - Education: 8 - Total: 46 ---------- 4.What would you change? I live in a cloistered township in the city of Gorakhpur. My opinion is on the inputs needed by the city of which my township is a part. The first and foremost would be creating a sewage grid to evacuate the liquid waste-create sewage trunks which would inturn be connected to the streets. In fact this needs to be seen together with the complete waste evacuation and treatment system for the city. Seasonal flows like storm water/rain water also needs planning. ---------- 5.Why do we move? The five important attributes of a city remain constant for me. I rank the three places where I would like to emigrate. Of these I have personally visited Oe/Zurich. **Zurich/Oerlikon**: - Infrastructure - Education - Job opportunities - Safety - Political stability I was impressed with the well stabilised city setting, excellently connected, universities conducting research in most inviting climes. The place offers good opportunities for knowledge workers. **Helsinki/Finland:** - Infrastructure - Education - Job opportunities - Safety - Political stability I have read about the work being done in embedded electronics, high end software in Finland. It appears to offer good opportunities to knowledge workers and safe, secure, stable environment for the families. **Oceania:** - Infrastructure - Education - Job opportunities - Safety - Political stability I haven’t visited Oceania and base my views on the literature. Good work is reported from universities of this region on Smart grids. Also, the place has scored consistently high on the EIU livability index (which I find more relevant for me). ---------- Picture from my living quarters (in Gorakhpur, India): ![enter image description here][1] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14442759666541047.jpg
