**2. Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area?** As a fact, the city of Tarragona holds the biggest petrol and chemical industries in the south of Europe. As the city is composed of several neighbours, it happens that they surround the industrial areas. Despite it is difficult to find UHI maps and records for the city of Tarragona, there are some news that show some effects of temperatures getting higher like increased number of deaths due to heat waves. This effect is related to higher temperatures due to climate change, which is partially effect of the increased number of emissions produced by humans which produce UHI in the cities. ![Tarragona aerial view][1] ![Tarragona surroundings][2] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14618559571064597.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1461856005842915.jpg **3. Which are the measures you would propose?** I would propose the promotion of green zones in the city. Horizontal ones in places where buildings have been demolished and vertical ones where facades were attractive mainly. I would also propose the use of reflective colors in the roofs and use of solar panels to reduce the energy consumption for producing electricity and heating water. **4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area?** Although the city has some concerns related to become greener, I have not found any evidence in relation to UHI mesurements. Some related measures could be economic helps for rebuilding facades that are energy efficient, although it relies on the consumer to manage big amounts of paperwork with little help of the city employees.
