Summer heat in NEW ORLEANS: -Up to 16o hotter in the city than in nearby rural areas; -Average 2.2o city summers are hotter than in rural areas; - 17 more days above 19 oF each year, than rural areas. 2) Unfortunatelly, theres is no data about heat island effect in my city, Blumenau. I search for Sao Paulo, the biggest city in Brazil, but even though I didn't find a consistent data. Heat island effect is a big problem in Sao Paulo and causes lots of impacts on its inhabitants. The temperature in Sao Paulo city increased 1.2 oC since 1950, and it is 10 oC higher than in rural áreas. ![UHI effect Sao Paulo][1] ![Rural area][2] The pictures above show the difference between the city and rural area. Use of concrete, cars, poor urban arborization, are some of the main reasons fo UHI effect in Sao Paulo city. 3) First of all, I will improve urban arborization. Trees contribute to reduce temperatura, increasing evapotranspiration. More trees also contribute to people walk on the streets, instead use cars. The other action is implement a good public tranportation system, to reduce the use of individual automobiles. 4) Unfortunatelly not!
