The worst effect we can identify here in Kuwait is rise in the death toll due to heat. Kuwait City became the hottest city in the world and one of these reasons is UHI. ![The Downtown][1] ![The Downtown 2][2] Kuwait City downtown is famous of tower and high-rise buildings with huge areas of curtain walls and streets. These elements are absorbing heats and raise the temperature. ![Rural Areas 1][3] ![Rural Areas 2][4] In the other hand, surrounding rural areas in Kuwait City are famous of maximum 2 floors house. Also, It they have many trees and green areas which help in reducing the heats by 5-7 degrees and keep these area less hotter than the downtown. *** Which are the measures you would propose?** I think we should start sustainable practices immediately, something like planting many trees in the city to provide shades and help in absorbing CO2 emissions which will be helpful in reducing the UHI. *** Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area?** Yes. UHI is very important for Kuwait government. They started to make parks around and inside the city to increase green areas and trees and they are going to continue creating new parks so that they can help in reducing the UHI. ![Al Shaheed Park][5] ![Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Cultural Center][6] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14622134779744076.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14622135325668352.jpg [3]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14622138768883291.jpg [4]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1462213953173981.jpg [5]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1462215562833111.jpg [6]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14622155911213097.jpg
