My area is characterized by fertile flat lands and abundance of surface and underground waters. Diverse arable crops are grown in the fields and in greenhouses, vineyards, citrus and olive groves cover most of the rural area. Livestock, (mainly sheep) is also supported. Main citizens' income is provided by agricultural activities.![][1] b. Regulating services Wildfires of 2007 have destroyed vast forest areas. Serious subsidence and corrosion phenomena have been observed in many regions since then. Floods have occurred in lowland areas in recent years. ![Corrosion in Analepsi Amaliada 2015][2] c. Habitat or Supporting services The Pinios River Delta is home to endangered amphibians and reptiles, and the bay area (Chelonites Gulf) is a nesting place for sea turtles of the endangered species Caretta caretta. ![enter image description here][3] The dam of Pinios, built in 1968 has altered the flow of the river, affecting biodiversity. The creation of the artificial lake however has provided habitat to several aquatic species as well as some species of migratory birds in recent years.![enter image description here][4] d. Cultural services The quality of bathing water and the presence of the coastal pine forest make the local beach of Amaliada an ideal holiday destination.![enter image description here][5] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14494398437845662.jpg [2]: http://aftovi.27210.gr/mediafiles/2015/03/amaliada2.jpg [3]: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6Mx2EySnW5c/TiVdW8AOX4I/AAAAAAAA-1U/-LLQWJqeREs/s320/tromaktiko11.jpg [4]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14494405287582004.jpg [5]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14494407988481794.jpg
