Since 2013 our city has a power plant fed 100% by renewable energy sources: wood and hay. The hay bales for example are collected from the territory of the county, so the majority of homes in the town are heated with energy sources from local ecosystem. ![Hay bales next to the Power Plant][1] b. Regulating service: Our city lies at the south side of a 682 m high mountain. The hillside is covered with forests. There is a natural air duct, which flows through the city with fresh oxygen produced by the forests. ![deciduous forests around Pécs][2] c. Habitat or Supporting service: Hungary is a member of NATURA 2000 ecological network founded by the European Union. Around Pécs there are several National Parks, Nature Reserves where many plant and animal species find habitat. !["fragrant hellebore" (Helleborus odorus) is a protected flower in Mecsek][3] d. Cultural service: Pécs was the European Capital of Culture in 2010, when more cultural institutions were established. Pécs always had an important role in the cultural life of Hungary. Since 2010 this role is even stronger.
