**PROVISIONAL SERVICES** : **Minerals:** The city is surrounded by low, rocky, barren hillocks. Jabalpur hills with their variety of minerals, draw geologists and archeologists. It has such high sources of marble, that the city is also called,MARBLE CITY. These hills also create pictresque scenes when merged with the Narmada river ( the main river of Jabalpur) which has made it a major tourist spot. ![enter image description here][1] **Fresh water:** Jabalpur has a major river, Narmada, which is the source of freshwater in the city. There are other smaller river and lakes too. The city has the famous Bargi damn which is the preliminary source of water for a large parts of the state. ![enter image description here][2]![enter image description here][3] **Food** Jabalpur has good soil deposits due to the presence of a major river of India running right across it. The Narmada basin’s alluvial soil produces sorghum, wheat , rice, and millet in the villages around Jabalpur. **REGULATORY PROVISONS:** **Local climate and air quality:** The presence of major water body in the city, enhances its biodiversity, soil fertility and hence the overall climate of the area. The city has rich green belt on large areas. The satpura forests around the city have there positive effects on its air quality and climate. Soil Fertility ( moderation of extreme events) The presence of a major river creates rich alluvial soil deposits which develops lots of vegetation, which prevent soil degradation and desertification. The presence of the Bargi damn regulates availability of water which prevents draught in any circumstances. The presence of reservoirs such as lakes( hanuman tal) helps in accumulation of access rain water and helps in ground water recharge, thus curbing floods to some extent. **HABITAT** The city has major wildlife sanctuaries situated very close, Bandhavgarh, Kanha Tiger Reserve, etc. Inside the city too, there is dense vegetation at some parts, which habitats certain wildlife and it is floristically rich region of Madhya Pradesh. The dense forests of teak lie in Jabalpur. **CULTURAL SERVICES**. Recreational and mental and physical health: The city is various parks for relaxation and amusement. The cantonment area of the city is lush green and has excellent jogging tracks. The dumna reserve park is one of the important parks of the city, which is famous for its scenic beauty. The various river bank developments ( or ghats as called in India) are another source of recreational activity, the river itself provides amusement through boating and the falls are pleasure for the eyes. Another important recreational area is the Bargi park and its reservoir, with all its adventoure sports and trekking camps. ![enter image description here][4] **Tourism:** The city’s major tourist attraction is the BHEDAGHAT, it is a river bank on the Narmada river. The beauty of the marble rocks is beautifull flaunted by the nature and can be observed while boating across the river. The river path has beautiful fall, called the Dhuandhar falls, which are remarkable and one of the major tourist spots of the city. Another major destination is the 60ft Lord Shiva statue and its varied forms at Kachnar city. ![enter image description here][5] **Spiritual experience:** The people in India worship all the rivers as Gods. And hence several riverfronts have been developed along the river Narmada mainly for religious purposes, with temples and areas for the Religious men( saadhu) to meditate.
