Where are the dominant fossil fuels mainly used for in your country?** Oil is our main fossil fuel and it's predominately used in transportation. **3.It is your task to create a new policy in order to improve the environmental friendly and sustainable sources and consumption of energy of your country. How would you do that?** If we could create a new policy I would like to divide it into two sections. One would be to concentrate in renewable energy such as solar panels and wind turbines. Since Ecuador is in the equatorial line, I think we could use our climate to our own advantage. Being a country with two seasons (rainy and dry) we have sunshine almost all year (if not all) and we also have strong winds. By encouraging funding for this type of energy we could help increase the use of clean energy and reduce the impact that oil has in the environment. Secondly I would encourage redesigning certain areas of the city in order to make it more pedestrian friendly (improving the sidewalks) as well as adding more bicycle lanes (the government is currently doing so in Quito) and improving public transportation (regulate it) with the idea that by improving it the population would decrease the use of their own cars.
