**a. Provisioning services** **Food:** There are a wide variety of ecosystem services present in the area where I currently live; and that is city of Rijeka in Croatia. Food that you can find in our city is diverse. In big super markets and commercial chains, food is maily imported, but on our smaller local markets and farmers marcet you can find alot of bio and eco food that is from managed agro-ecosystems (farms) that are locater in sourounding areas and islands (Krk, Cres, Istra, Gorski kotar, ...). Also if you just step away from city centre and look in ti suburban areas you can find smaller gardens where some of the residents grow their own veggetables or fruit. Also a big part of food in our comunity is sea food that is mainly caught locally and in season by local fishermans and that can be bought in our local fish market wich is suplies with fresh fish every day. ![enter image description here][1] **Raw materials:** In sourounding areas of our city you can find multiple factories that make wood products like loogs, boards, laths wich materials come from sourounding forest or near by region Gorski kotar. **Fresh water:** Rijeka is fortunate that in its area has sufficient and satisfactory number of typical karst springs of fresh water. But much of the city and all the suburbs (today cities and municipalities) are built on the catchment areas of these same resources by the sea, making it difficult to protect them from pollution by sewage water and industrial and municipal waste, and increased risk of accidents and pollution in particular in transport petroleum products. Two most important sources near Rijeka is source of the river Rječina and Zvir ( one of the abundant karst springs). Regulating services** **Local climate and air quality:** As i wrote in one of previouse HW; Rijeka has a moderately warm and humid climat. In ourparft on the Adriatic coast is known Rijeka wind - Bura; cold and dry wind northeast, whose speed at times reaches hurricane losses (180 km / h), and most often occurs in the colder part of the flow of cold air from the Pannonian plain over the Dinaric Alps ( wich also replies somehowo on part of the question about *Moderation of extreme events* - our city is not always prepared for this kind of weather but when wind reaches high speeds there are some precautions, but they are not neccesary on high level). Quality of the air in city depends on area in wich you live in (air is bether qualiti in surburna and sourounding areas than in city centre) but from general point of view; air quality is satisfactory, and deffinetly bether than in some larger cities in our country. **c. Habitat or Supporting services** **Maintenance of genetic diversity:** Rijeka is one of most diverse city in Croatia. We have national, racial and religious different people. We have large comunities of people that have their place in city - Serbs, Italians, Slovenias - that all have their associations and meeting homes, we even Italian elementary and highschool. On at a distance of 5km, we have 3 different religious institutions, Christian, Baptist, Muslim. Big part of our diversity of our citw comes from harbour that still atracts variety of people. ![muslim mosque in city of Rijeka][3] **d. Cultural services** **Recreation and mental and physical health:** We have multiple walking phates that insure some recreation and physical health; also more than few playing fields in different parts of city and people are big suporters of sporting events (from footbal, wather polo, swimming, sailing, ...), witch also gives bether sence of community . Our city centre is also , even if not that big, still walkable place. ![Lukobran in middle of city centre][4] **Tourism:** In past few decades Rijeka was more industrial city and with the exception of the associated islands, did not have a lot of tourists in the city center. But in past wef years that number is geting bether. City is offering alot if different smaller events in city and sourounding areas that are keeping turists interested. **Aesthetic appreciation and inspiration for culture, art and design:** Our city was always really big on individuality, expresion and arts, especially in the field of music and theatre. We have alot of different smaller music gatherings ( as Rijeka summer nights - also no this event there are alot of visiting theatres; Kastafsko kulturno leto, Jazz fest,Ri Rock,...). Our most profitable museum is MMSU and as addition to that we have also few smaller galeries where every month there is new art exibition. Especialy poular between chidlren is Natural History Museum.
