![enter image description here][1] Lake Marathon is the primary water supply for Athens since 1931. The Damn of the lake was constructed to collect water and meet the needs of the city's growing population. Unfortunately the past decades the lakes level has been constantly dropping, especially during prolonged periods of heatwave. b. Regulating services Athens is surrounded by two mountains, Penteli and Parnitha. Both of them are characterized as "the lungs of the city". ![enter image description here][2] There has been several fires over the years that caused great damages to the forests and as a consequence, the city's temperature has risen. There has been numerous programs of reforestation every year. c. Habitat or Supporting services Athens is a very highly populated city. There aren't many large green spaces. Mainly, the National Garden in the city center and the various groves scattered around its boundaries close to the suburbs, are the city's main green spaces. d. Cultural services I will mention mount Parnitha again, since it also works as a National Park and it's open for hiking and skiing, since there is a ski center at its top.
