**Food:** There are a wide variety of ecosystem services present in the suburban area of Budapest where I currently live. Food is mainly either imported, or comes from managed agro-ecosystems from the surrounding local areas. However, Budapest has a high number of green areas, mainly on the West side of the Danube, and as a result, there is an opportunity for residents to grow fruit and vegetables even in their own gardens or in community garden areas. ![An apple in my garden][1] **Fresh Water:** Budapest has very high quality water filtered tap water, and a number of natural water sources. ![Natural clean water source in the middle of the city][2] **b) Regulating services** **Local climate and air quality:** Air quality is high in the area where I live, especially compared to downtown Budapest. Buda has higher amounts of green areas with trees and other plants than Pest does. As a result, Buda has a better regulated climate, and higher air quality. ![Forest in Buda][3] **Carbon sequestration and storage:** It is becoming a little more common to find trees planted next to busy roads in central Budapest, which help to remove carbon dioxide from the air. It is something still to be improved though. ![Trees in the city][4] **c) Habitat or supporting services** **Habitats for species:** Buda’s substantial green areas together with the few parks present in Pest provide habitat for many plant and animal species. They present food, water and shelter for them. ![Birds in a park in Pest][5] **d) Cultural services** **Recreation and mental and physical health:** There are a number of parks which facilitate for various sport activities. Running tracks, bicycle routes, places for ball games and even a few outdoor gyms can be found across the city. ![Bicycles and bicycle route in Budapest][6] **Tourism:** There are a lot of tourists present in Budapest all throughout the year, helping to provide considerable economic benefits. ![Backpackers in Budapest][7] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14483576059576783.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14483578268008226.jpg [3]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14483579138903699.jpg [4]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14483579491981525.jpg [5]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14483579998922306.jpg [6]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14483580279685942.jpg [7]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1448358082111343.jpg
