Aberdeen has a huge variety of natural resources, as follows: - Aberdeen has a Royal Infirmary, and modern medical technology, but is not a main aspect. - Many Natural Highland Springs (i.e abundant fresh water, very wet climate) - Fishing (Particularly Salmon) - logging(tree felling etc.) Since Scotland is mainly wet bogland, highland mountains and dense forest, a large infrastructure has been brought up around this. The logging industry provides wood for heating, but primarily exports it to England and The U.S. ![Logging][1] **Regulating services** Aberdeen is made almost exclusively out of granite. The houses and the bedrock below, which means erosion is not a problem at all. Aberdeen has, again, an incredible amount of wetland forest, almost like a "pine equivalent to the rain forest". - Air quality in Aberdeen/Scotland has been so commended that people with breathing problems are known to stay in here until they recover. - Aberdeen has a microclimate because it is the convergence of 5 huge weather streams, and so we have lots of cloud and much extreme winds - not to mention rain, a lot of rain. - Nature in general is thriving in Aberdeen, there are plenty of flowers because of the spacing between areas in the city. - waste water can be an issue sometimes, as overflows occur often and grey water ends up on the roads a lot. ![Water][2] **Habitat or Supporting services** Relative to most cities in Britain, and indeed the U.S, Aberdeen has a fairly sparse wildlife diversity. However outside of the actual city and the sheer amount of species will blow your mind. The genetic diversity is so huge infact, that some councils are debating whether to reintroduce wolves as a form of control. [Scotland Site][3] **Cultural services** While Aberdeen is the third most visited place in Scotland, it leaves something to be desired. All the buildings are the same colour, design and shape, and it is always dark and rainy, and this unfortunately means Aberdeen is not a good place for people who suffer depression. However as a result of this Aberdeen has a vast array of mental health clinics available. When people talk about night clubs and the like, they are talking about London or Glasgow. Aberdeen has an incredible lack of social places, save for the coffee shops. This is somewhat surprising as Aberdeen is very centred around education. Aberdeen has many churches, however Aberdeen is not a completely religious place, quite the opposite. Aberdeen is heavily focused on Science and development, and while religion can go hand in hand with these fields, it very often does not. ![Church][4] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14476944451653598.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14476950309796522.jpg [3]: http://www.visitscotland.com/about/wildlife/species/ [4]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14476958027106829.jpg
