Initially the reason behind "HEAT ISLAND EFFECT". ![Explainination of Heat island effect in urban areas .][1] The top 10 cities in U.S with the most intense summer urban heat islands (average daily urban-rural temperature differences) over the past 10 years are: Las Vegas (7.3°F) Albuquerque (5.9°F Denver (4.9°F) Portland (4.8°F) Louisville (4.8°F) Washington, D.C. (4.7°F) Kansas City (4.6°F) Columbus (4.4°F) Minneapolis (4.3°F) Seattle (4.1°F) On average across all 60 cities, urban summer temperatures were 2.4°F hotter than rural temperatures. My answer to next question :- That average temperature in the place where i reside ( Harishankar puram gwalior , M.P) is 31 degree celcius . And this place too is suffering from heat island effect as compared to its surrounding area . ![Near my residence][2] My residence is nearby this building. The main reason to show this is that there are big structures in my locality as compared to the nearby rural area. So the big buildings and its air conditioning are main reason here for heat island effect. ![Pant nagar ( nearby rural area )[3] So here the structures are less modified and densed , so that less urban heat island effect. My answer to third question :- If i would have an opportunity to take an action against this than initially i would definitly i would turn areas into maximum green spaces and also the structures i.e using green roofs and green walls , terrace garden too , etc. And in my locality there is no such initiave taken or policy proposed regarding this issue since the people are not aware of this. ![enter image description here][3] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14473520099085233.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1447355720634199.jpg [3]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14473569201443771.jpg
