The pollution level in Quito is much more heavy than the surrounding rural areas, the electricity consumption of buildings and infrastructure in Quito contribute and increased significantly the urban heat island. Additionally, Quito due to the excessive UV exposure could be directly affected because of its location, turning out in a number of chronic skin changes in the dwellers. 3. Which are the measures you would propose? I like to propose some regulations/policies related to the construction manner in the city. I wish to invest more money in climate effect researches to find the real problem of UHI in my homeland due to the urban designers can align their projects to the best designs in the future. 4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? Currently, specifically in UHI effects there is no policy in my city but the government seems focused in the climate change impact, specially the conservation of protected areas.
