2. Now I want to compare my city - Moscow with its suburb - Moscow region. Temperature has grown in Moscow since the beggining of the XX century, and since 1975 till 2000 - extremely quickly. Moscow average temperature is 2,65C or 35.6F more than average suburb temperature. And maximum UHI temperature fixed 16-th April 2013 was 6,52C or 42,8F more than in rural area. ![enter image description here][1] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14455279629988346.jpg Moscow UHI zones The main problems connected with UHI in Moscow are: - rising of energy using for air cooling; - increase of different diseases and health problems; - degeneration of water quality. 3. Which are the measures you would propose? The measures I can suggest are: - increasing the quantity of urban green trees to mitigate UHI. - use white-colored or light-reflecting materials during the building roads, houses and roofs, to increase city albedo. - combine the first two measures, add usage of "green" technologies, sush as green walls and roofs, or, for example, making roof gardens. 4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? Unfortunatelly, no. Moscow policy-makers aren't interested in solving this problem.
