The interactive image shows that US cities can be hotter by up to 22 degrees F than nearby rural areas. This shows that UHI effect is at play. **2. Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area?** I work in Manila, but I am originally from Laguna, 2-hours south of Manila. I am usually there during the weekends. I can confirm that it is indeed hotter in Manila than in Laguna, which can be attributed to UHI. As in the photos, it is up to 3 degrees warmer in Manila than in Laguna. ![enter image description here][1] ![enter image description here][2] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14500105009731275.png [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14500105479881088.png **3. Which are the measures you would propose?** To reduce the UHI effect in Manila, I would plant more trees to provide shade for the people. I would also allot areas to be designated open spaces to provide comfort for the residents. I would also invest in public transportation such as trains to reduce the number of cars on the road, the emissions of which contribute to UHI. I would also encourage the use of electric vehicles to reduce emissions as well. **4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area?** As of now, I don't know any policies that concern UHI. The Metro Manila Development Authority has been planting all over the city, but that is for beautification purposes.
