There are several cities where summer urban heat islands have been reported over the past 10 years. Las Vegas is at the top of the list with a 7.3°F difference. 2. There has been an increase in the number of hot days in summer, particularly 2013 and 2015. The effect is noticable even at night temperatures, although there is a significant difference between day and night temperature in my area. 3. Which are the measures you would propose? More tall trees and natural shading in the streets of the city center. Substitute of the heat reflecting materials in the ground of open public spaces with ceramic, natural soil and grass. Incorporating water elements (as fountains) in selected spots. 4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? Yes, there has been a survey for UHI. The report suggested a master plan for Environmental Bioclimatic Upgrading of the city center's open public spaces, which is now in process.
