**1. Check the temperature differences in US cities:** Checked! **2. Information for my own place of residence:** http://en.climate-data.org/location/880059/ ![digite a descrição da imagem aqui][1] The city of São Paulo (where I work) ![digite a descrição da imagem aqui][2] Ribeirão Pires (the city that I live) is a city in the rural surrounding of the metropolitan area of São Paulo: ![digite a descrição da imagem aqui][3] The UHI effect in my city is lower than the nearby cities, as you can see in this map of temperature, in the highlighted red square: ![digite a descrição da imagem aqui][4] http://atlasambiental.prefeitura.sp.gov.br/mapas/105.jpg This happens because there is many green areas for preservation of watersheds, riverheads and water bodies. The city has low population density, small buildings and concrete surface. It is a city with high indexes of humidity and the climate is comfortable in the summer. However, the public transportation is inefficient and lacking in investment, the most part of the citizens use car as the major way to displacement inside the territory, and this contribute to increase the CO2 emission. **3. Which are the measures you would propose?** Improve the public transportation, the sides of pedestrian and cyclists and encourage citizens to use another forms of transportation. **4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area?** Actually, in my city, they are more worried about the preservation of the green areas particularly the biome of the Atlantic Forest. There is rules to protect the environment and control the growth of the city, consequentially there is abundant green areas that contributes to reduce the UHI effect.
