The proper maintenance of the green spaces is a factor that could help the UHI effect. Other measures to reduce the effect could be including more green roofs in the newly built projects, incorporating different types of shading devices into the buildings, which is an element that is not as largely used as in other southern countries. Also more trees and vegetation along the big boulevards and parkings. I'm not aware of any policies that aim specifically at reducing the UHI effect in the city.
