Done ---------- **2. Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area?** Don’t have data, however, its anecdotal knowledge that highly spaced urban parts (clustered about narrow streets) are decidedly cooler. However, this leads to the problem is feeling of stale air hanging about you. Where as main thoroughfares where tall buildings are located about the arterial roads, temperatures are high. I think the coal-tar paved roads add to the heat load. Further, one can clearly see the affect of heat emanating from the radiators of distribution transformers, automobiles, air conditioners etc. In Lucknow, the city I am presently in, several green stretches were levelled and were provided with humungous monuments in stone, with entire exposed flooring also in stone-after this construction nearby residents have complained that the intensity of discomfort in summers has gone up. ---------- **3. Which are the measures you would propose?** For main thoroughfares and arterial roads, I would suggest use of light coloured construction material like concrete. Further, to add to buoyancy, large circulators between buildings should take out the staleness by the draft. ---------- **4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area?** Sadly none. Focus is on very basics-sanitation, water and mobility. ---------- Pictures: of narrow lane in Lucknow: ![enter image description here][1] ![enter image description here][2] ![enter image description here][3] ![enter image description here][4] ![enter image description here][5] ![enter image description here][6] ![enter image description here][7] Ran out of space in this-putting pictures of wider streets in another post [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14451714113258114.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14451714702765417.jpg [3]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14451715101147505.jpg [4]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14451715521686282.jpg [5]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1445171610701069.jpg [6]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14451718709637254.jpg [7]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14451719072533596.jpg
